New Signs on our Trails

PEHRA is pleased to see the five new trail signs at trailheads in our parklands. The trail system was planned and initially developed by PEHRA, as the signs acknowledge. The previous signs were damaged in several storms, and PEHRA requested their replacement. We thank HRM Parks for working with us on the design of the new signs.

Trail Upgrade at Baker Drive End

The western end of the Portland Lakes Greenway has finally been widened and paved. The upgraded secrion runs from the Russell Lake pumping station through to the trailhead (corner of Baker Drive and Norm Newman). PEHRA has advocated for this improvement for many years, and our work has finally paid off. Enjoy the trail! upgrade 1

Baker Drive Trail Update

Work is proceeding to upgrade and pave the Baker Drive end of the Portland Lakes Greenway. PEHRA has lobbied for this for many years and it's finally happening. More details in our upcoming Newsletter.

Trails Team improving the Bell Brook trail

Thanks to those of you who could join us today (Byron Macdonald, Don Dennis, Dana McLellan, Melissa Perotta, and Hugh Millward). We cleared woody growth along the northern half of the trail, and also cut back some perennial weeds in the sunnier spots (particularly the entrances either side of the upper portion of Bellbrook Crescent). Byron's zeal led us to clear two fairly large fallen trees that were partially blocking the trail. The trail is very pleasant and is now easier to walk, but beware of tree roots and boulders.
